period of at least four years.
The investment must be made in the name of the primary applicant or jointly with their spouse or
de facto partner.
- Age Requirement: Generally, applicants must be under the age of
55 at the time of invitation, unless the nominating state or territory
government waives this requirement due to exceptional economic benefit.
- Health and Character Requirements: All applicants and any accompanying family
members must meet Australia’s health and character requirements, which include completing
medical examinations and providing police clearance certificates.
- Points Test: This visa stream is points-tested. Applicants
must score at least 65 points on the points test based on factors such as age,
English language proficiency, business and investment experience,
net assets, and other criteria.
- Nomination: Applicants must be nominated by an Australian state or

nominating body may set its own additional requirements or conditions.
- Pathway to Permanent Residency: The Investor Stream (subclass 188B) is a
provisional visa that provides a pathway to permanent residency through the
Business Innovation and Investment (Permanent) visa (subclass 888),
