Subclass 132 Business Talent (Permanent) Visa

The Business Talent (Permanent) visa (subclass 132) is a permanent visa designed for high-caliber business owners, investors, and entrepreneurs with exceptional business skills and significant financial capacity. This visa allows successful applicants to establish or develop a new or existing business in Australia, contributing to the country’s economic growth and innovation.

The subclass 132 visa comprises two main streams — Stream A: Significant Business History and Stream B: Venture Capital Entrepreneur.

Stream A – Significant Business History

This stream is for high-level business owners or entrepreneurs who have a successful track record in managing substantial businesses. To be eligible for Stream A, applicants must:

  • Be nominated by a state or territory government agency or Austrade.
  • Have net business and personal assets of at least AUD 1.5 million or an annual business turnover of at least AUD 3 million for at least two of the four fiscal years immediately preceding the invitation to apply.
  • Be under 55 years of age, unless the nominating authority agrees to waive this requirement due to exceptional economic benefit to Australia.
Stream B – Venture Capital Entrepreneur

This stream is for entrepreneurs who have obtained venture capital funding from a member of the Australian Investment Council (AIC) to develop and commercialize a high-value business idea in Australia. To qualify, applicants must:

  • Be nominated by a state or territory government agency or Austrade.
  • Have secured a minimum of AUD 1 million in venture capital funding from an AIC member for the start-up, commercialization, or expansion of a high-value business venture in Australia.
  • Be under 55 years of age, unless exceptional economic benefit to Australia can be demonstrated.

Both streams require applicants to demonstrate a genuine commitment to owning and actively managing a business in Australia. They must also meet the health and character requirements set by the Department of Home Affairs and intend to contribute positively to the Australian business environment.
